The director of the Buncombe County Schools Foundation, Lisa Adkins, receives an important honor this week.The director of the Buncombe County Schools Foundation, Lisa Adkins, receives an important honor this week. The Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual WomanUp breakfast on Thursday.

This event brings together hundreds of leaders and entrepreneurs in the #Asheville area to help recognize and celebrate the contributions of women to their respective fields. There were several awards given out, including the “Outstanding Woman in Non-profit Leadership Award”.
This recognition, sponsored by TD Bank, was given to Lisa Adkins.

“I was Incredibly honored to receive this Award at such an inspiring event,” said Adkins. We have so many amazing women in the business and nonprofit community in Asheville. I feel very fortunate to be able to work on behalf of public education in Buncombe County.”

According to the Chamber, this award recognizes a "woman who exhibits leadership in the nonprofit arena and who has demonstrated commitment to advancing women in her organization and in the community."
