🥦🍎🥕✨🎉 Congratulations to the BCS School Nutrition Department, whose Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) recently won a Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award from the USDA Food and Nutrition Service and Action for Healthy Kids.
This award highlights the district’s efforts to improve school nutrition, support healthy eating habits, and provide students with fresh, nutritious options every day. To support FFVP, Buncombe County Schools partnered with the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project to create educational packets that help students learn more about the fruits and vegetables served. The district also reinforces nutrition education through social media, its website, and by highlighting locally sourced products on school menus.
“We're excited to announce we've received a Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award,” said BCS Assistant Nutrition Director Katy Wyatt. “This honor celebrates our commitment to serving nutritious, high-quality meals to our students every day. A huge thank you to our amazing team for making this possible.”
