The Buncombe County Schools Foundation is proud to announce an increased hurricane relief budget to assist BCS staff members who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene.

To prioritize immediate recovery efforts, we have voted to temporarily suspend our educational grants this year in order to allocate funding for relief efforts.

As we continue to recover and heal together, our commitment to supporting our dedicated BCS team remains strong. Thanks to the generosity of special donors and our board, we are offering $50,000 in staff assistance grants to help with essential recovery needs.

If you have been affected by the storm, we encourage you to apply for financial support. This grant can cover expenses like:

  • Property damage repairs

  • Food, clothing, and shelter

  • Utilities, medication, and other critical needs

Grant Details:

  • Grant Application Period: November 12th - November 22nd

  • Payment Issued By: December 19th

  • Support Levels:

    • Level 1 (Mild): Reimbursement for spoiled food, gas money, clothing, etc.

    • Level 2 (Moderate): Reimbursement for hotel costs, utility bills, etc.

    • Level 3 (Major): Complete loss of home or vehicle.
